Built to Change How the World Measures Risk

Alter Intelligence was founded on the belief that physical climate risk is fundamentally misunderstood and systematically mispriced.

Portrait of Dr. Rahul Kumar

Dr. Rahul Kumar

Chief Science Officer

Dr. Rahul is a physical climate risk specialist with a career built at the frontier of where climate science meets financial risk. As a Principal at RMSI, he developed physical hazard risk scores for the banking sector spanning heatwaves, floods, droughts, cyclones, landslides, and sea level rise. His work has directly informed how major financial institutions quantify and price climate exposure. His expertise spans hydrology, flood risk modelling, geospatial analytics, remote sensing, and environmental data science. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar. At Alter Intelligence, he leads the scientific methodology and model architecture, ensuring every risk score is multi-peril, defensible, and built to the standards that institutional clients and regulators demand.

What We Stand For

Precision Over Approximation

We reject the false comfort of portfolio-level averages. Every output is traceable to asset-level data and physically grounded models, calibrated against observed loss data where available.

Transparency in Modeling

Our methodology is open to scrutiny. We publish our scientific foundations, disclose model assumptions, and welcome challenge — because defensible outputs require defensible inputs.

Built for Decision-Makers

We build tools that drive action, not just outputs that generate reports. Every feature is designed with the risk professional, underwriter, or infrastructure planner in mind.
